Audi is once again opening up new horizons: the Audi urban concept is a 1+1-seat, ultra-light car for congested urban spaces. The technical study being presented at the 2011 International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt does not fit under any of the conventional categories - the Audi urban concept combines elements of a racing car, a fun car and an urban car into one radical new concept. In addition to a Sportback model, Audi is also presenting a Spyder variant.
The Audi urban concept is not based on any previous model - its development is solely oriented on the strict principles of lightweight construction, efficiency and reduction. The result is a concept car with no unnecessary weight, and one that concentrates on the pure essence of sporty motion.
The Audi urban concept has a sleek body. The wheels are free-standing, their surrounding protective plates feature blinking strips of LED lights. The highly concentrated look of the technical study, with its forward-urging lines, is dynamic and emotional - it lends Audi's design language a completely new impetus.
On board there is room for two people, their position slightly staggered and at a sporty, low level. All controls and materials are subject to the dictates of ultra-lightweight construction in order to ensure that the sensory experience they convey is unique and compelling. The driver can adjust the steering wheel and pedals to his own body measurements. Characteristic features of the Spyder include its low, continuous window area and its doors that open diagonally to the top.
The technology in the Audi urban concept reflects the full capabilities of the brand, especially when it comes to ultra-lightweight construction. The cockpit consists of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, which integrates the undercarriage of both seats. The Audi urban concept rolls on wheels with a 21-inch diameter.
Two e-tron electric motors provide the propulsion - providing the ultra-light Audi urban concept with the ability to accelerate powerfully. A lithium-ion battery supplies the energy - ideal for extended city tours.

Venturi Fetish
At the Mondial de l'Automobile 2010 in Paris, Venturi is presenting a completely new Venturi Fetish, directly based on developments undertaken for Venturi's World Records program in Bonneville, USA (2009-2012) with the Venturi "JAMAIS CONTENTE", the fastest electric vehicle in the world.
Rear spoiler, black headlight trims, "Bonneville" colours and finishes recalling the decoration of the Venturi "Jamais Contente", the new Venturi Fetish does not, however, content itself with mere cosmetic retouching : a new motor, powerful new electronics, a new under-carriage, new batterie system, new design for the exterior, a new interior... In fact, all of its components have been reviewed to make this technological marvel a vehicle of true excellence.]
With an output of over 300 HP for total weight of 1,225 kilos, 200 km/h, and 0-100 km/h in less than 4 secs, the Venturi Fetish has become a "muscle car", armed and ready for battle : above all, it is more than ever before the world's sportiest and most highly perfected example of an electric car.
Finally, it sees itself as a rarity, built of very high-tech materials : the Fetish is to be assembled by hand and made to order in our workshops in Monaco.
VM300 : A NEW GENERATION OF ELECTRIC MOTORS
With over 300 hp (+220 kW) and torque of 380 Nm, the VM300 is the most advanced electric motor ever designed for a car.
To get the very best out of such a motor, a new 54 kWh battery pack has been developed (LIV-10 Lithium Ion Polymer batteries) whose electronics (Battery Management System) have been entrusted to VENTEC, the leader in the field.
Venturi Fetish offers a real range of up to 340 km. Thanks to its on-board charger, it can recharge using a regular electrical socket or fast charge terminals (see Specs).
A RACING CAR CHASSIS
The Venturi Fetish's architecture is that of a racing car with a motor ideally mounted in a central position to the rear, backed by a carbon monocoque chassis.
The first chassis specifically designed to house a large volume of batteries, the carbon monocoque developed by Venturi provides an exceptional protection cell for its occupants ; it is completed by two deformable cells positioned at the front and rear of the vehicle. This concept guarantees the security of the battery in the event of an accident and provides a level of safety never before achieved in an electric vehicle.
A SPORTS CAR'S PERFORMANCE
Thanks to the 300 hp of its motor combined with a maximised weight of 1,225 kilos, a brand new undercarriage and very large tyres, the Venturi Fetish behaves like a sports car with exemplary road-holding and traction.
Leaping from 0 to 100km/hr in less than 4 seconds, the Venturi Fetish is a true acceleration car.
Furthermore, the Venturi Fetish offers a range of up to 340 km.
A "HANDMADE" VEHICLE
The Venturi Fetish is made by hand and to order in our workshops in Monaco.
The production is limited, but not the program of customization, our Designer Sacha Lakic being at the arrangement of every customer to assist him in his most exclusive desires.
Special attention has been paid to the vehicle's manufacturing quality, and particularly to the interior, with a dashboard featuring high-tech equipment, but also noble materials such as leather or carbon fiber.
COMMERCIALISATION
Benefitting from on-going technological evolution, the Venturi Fetish does not aim to be a mass-produced vehicle.
Made by hand and to order in the Principality of Monaco, it is reserved for an exclusive and avant-garde clientele : its production is limited to 10 cars per year.
The sales price of the Venturi Fetish is 300,000 € + VAT ; its completion time is currently 12 months.
With a 2-year guarantee, the Fetish benefits from assistance enabling our technicians to perform a tele-diagnosis by means of a simple WiFi or GPRS connection.

Bentley Continental GTC
The second generation of the Bentley Continental GTC convertible will debut at 2011 International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt.
Taking cues from its GT coupe sibling launched in 2010, the new Bentley Continental GTC builds on the highly successful foundation of the previous cabriolet, which premiered in 2006. Bentley's design and engineering teams have improved virtually every aspect of the iconic convertible with an uncompromising focus on quality.
While the first Bentley Continental GTC was elegant and understated, the sharper radii and assertive stance of the new model delivers a more contemporary and muscular presence. Advanced manufacturing techniques produce aluminium front wings without the need for seams or welds creating the look and feel of a coach-built car. Twenty-inch wheels are now standard with three styles of 21-inch wheel, a first for GTC, available as an option, reinforcing the distinctive, sporting stance of the new Bentley.
The four-seater luxury convertible features a new, even more spacious and sumptuous hand-crafted cabin, with soft-touch leather hides, an extensive range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals and deep-pile carpets. There are 17 standard soft-touch leather hide colours with six colour split combinations, complemented by a range of seven veneers, all produced by Bentley's talented craftsmen and women.
The GTC's renowned coupe-like refinement is also enhanced. The tailored, multi-layered fabric hood is complemented by acoustic glass and under-body panels, for optimum noise isolation.
Superb everyday practicality for a luxury convertible was a hallmark of the original GTC and much valued by its customers. The cabin of the new GTC is now even more practical, with additional rear legroom, new storage solutions and innovative features such as touch-screen infotainment, automatic seat-belt presenters and a Bentley-designed Neck Warmer for comfortable roof-down motoring whatever the temperature.
A wider track, front and rear, sharper steering and retuned suspension provides a more exhilarating and class-leading drive. Bentley's advanced all-wheel drive system features a new 40:60 rear torque bias (compared with 50:50 of the original GTC) minimising understeer during hard cornering and allowing the spirited driver to manage the car's line and balance via precise throttle control.
This compelling dynamic package is combined with a more powerful 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine as well as a new QuickShift transmission enabling faster gear changes than ever before. Power output is raised from 560PS to 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and the famed Bentley 'wave of torque' has been increased by a further 50Nm to 700Nm (516lb ft).
"The GTC has always been the most emotional model in the Continental range and a showcase for Bentley design. With its tailored soft top, the GTC is a pure British convertible true to those classic Bentleys of the past. However, the technology, performance and overall design excellence invested in this model means that we are now writing a new chapter for the Bentley convertible driver." - Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors.
The Bentley Continental GTC is now available to order and first customer deliveries will begin in late 2011. The price is €170,060 / £149,350 / ¥26,400,000 / US$212,800 MSRP.

Audi A8 Hybrid 2013
The power of a six-cylinder model, the fuel consumption of a four-cylinder version: Audi will be starting series production of the Audi A8 hybrid in 2012. Its gasoline engine - a 2.0 TFSI - and an electric motor develop peak output of 180 kW (245 hp) and 480 Nm (345.03 lb-ft) of torque. Average fuel consumption is below 6.4 liters per 100 km (36.75 US mpg). The sedan can travel at speeds of up to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) on electric power alone, and cover around three kilometers (1.86 miles) with zero local emissions at a constant speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph).
The Audi flagship model is designed as a highly efficient parallel hybrid. The 2.0 TFSI, which has been modified in some areas, generates an output of 155 kW (211 hp) and 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) of torque, which is available between 1,500 and 4,200 rpm. The combustion engine works together with a disc-shaped electric motor which develops 40 kW (54 hp) and 210 Nm (154.89 lb-ft).
The permanent magnet synchronous motor is mounted in the space usually occupied by the torque converter in front of the modified eight-speed tiptronic. A multi-plate clutch that operates in an oil bath connects or disconnects the electric motor and the TFSI engine. The clutch operates ultra-precisely and gently in all situations. The highly comfortable and fast-shifting hybrid transmission guides the torque to the front wheels; with its wide gear spread it contributes to the efficiency of the Audi A8 hybrid.
The short-term system output of 180 kW (245 hp) and the system torque of 480 Nm (354.03 lb-ft) ensure highly agile performance. The Audi A8 hybrid reaches 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 7.7 seconds from a standing start and has a top speed of 235 km/h (146.02 mph). Its fuel consumption in the EU cycle is less than 6.4 liters per 100 km (36.75 US mpg), and CO2 emissions are below 148 grams per km (238.18 g/mile). Please note that all figures are provisional.
The Audi A8 hybrid can drive at up to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) purely on electric power and has a range of up to three kilometers (1.86 miles) at a constant 60 km/h (37.28 mph). This gives the driver the choice of three modes: The EV characteristic map gives priority to the electric drive, while the D mode efficiently controls both the engine and the electric motor. The S mode and the tiptronic gate are designed for a sporty driving style. The hybrid sedan has five operating states: with the TFSI engine alone, with electric drive only or in hybrid mode; recuperation and boosting are also possible. Two displays show the driver all operating modes in detail.
The lithium-ion battery, which weighs 36.7 kilograms (80.91 lb), is located in a crash-proof area in the trunk. It provides 1.3 kWh of nominal energy and up to 40 kW of power. Two different methods are used to air-cool the battery, depending on need: with air blown from the passenger compartment by a fan and via a separate cooling circuit coupled to the automatic air conditioning system. The battery is thus kept within the temperature window required for it to perform to its full potential over a wide range. The electric motor and the compact power electronics which serve as a controller between the electric motor and the battery are water-cooled.
In visual terms, the Audi A8 hybrid is distinguished by subtle details. The ten spokes of its alloy wheels - which have a diameter of 18 inches as standard and 19 inches as an option - are reminiscent of turbine blades. The body features hybrid badges, and Arctic Silver is available as an exclusive paint finish. The metallic paint finish, three-zone automatic air conditioning, LED headlights and the BOSE sound system come standard.
Thanks to the brand's ultra-lightweight construction expertise, the Audi A8 hybrid will be one of the lightest sedans in its category. Its ASF (Audi Space Frame) body is made entirely of aluminum, while the B-pillars are of hot-shaped, ultra-high-strength steel. Weighing just 231 kilograms (509.27 lb), it is roughly 40 percent lighter than a comparable steel construction.

Ferrari 458 Spider
The new Ferrari 458 Spider joins the 458 Italia, widening the range of Ferrari's mid-rear engined V8s and offering the same uncompromising technological solutions, handling and performance in a refined open-top configuration. It is equipped with a Ferrari patented, fully retractable hard top, a world first for a sports car with this lay-out.
The 458 Spider is powered by Ferrari's naturally-aspirated, direct-injection 4.5 litre V8 which was nominated as the 2011 International Engine of the Year for its engineering excellence in terms of driveability, performance, economy and refinement. The power is transferred to the road by Ferrari's class-leading dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission through the sophisticated E-Diff, itself integrated with the F1-Trac traction control and high-performance ABS for maximum handling dynamics.
Certain features, such as its accelerator pedal mapping and the damping of the multilink suspension, have been calibrated to guarantee maximum sportiness and absolute driving pleasure with the top down, in line with Maranello's exclusive spider tradition. Even the engine soundtrack has been honed to ensure that the car's occupants are completely captivated by the drop-top driving experience.
Entirely in aluminium, the hard-top solution adopted for the Ferrari 458 Spider offers a number of advantages over the traditional folding soft-top, including a reduction of 25 kg in weight and a deployment time of just 14 seconds. Fully integrated into the styling of the car, the hard-top was engineered to fit neatly ahead of the engine bay without compromising aerodynamics or the performance of the car. The small space needed to house the roof enables the designers to include a generous rear bench for luggage behind the seats.
The rear of the car is characterised by innovative forms with the buttresses designed to optimise the flow of air to the engine intakes and the clutch and gearbox oil radiators. For maximum comfort whilst driving top down the Ferrari 458 Spider features a generously-sized adjustable electric wind stop. The design was perfected to slow and diffuse the air in the cockpit, enabling normal conversation to be held even at speeds over 200 km/h.
New technical solutions adopted for the chassis guarantee identical levels of structural rigidity with the roof up or down. The result is a car that is truly exciting to drive, blending extreme performance with the responsiveness that has always characterised Ferrari's open-top berlinettas.
Porsche 911 Carrera
Porsche is proud to present the new Porsche 911 Carrera, a completely new generation of the iconic coupe that has been acclaimed as one of the world's benchmark sports cars since its launch in 1963.
Tradition meets modernity
True to the 911 tradition, the distinctive Porsche design language exudes power and elegance. The unmistakable silhouette still catches the eye while incorporating new, exciting contours and precisely designed details; a 100mm longer wheelbase for improved stability and greater interior space; front and rear overhangs are shorter, maintaining the compact footprint that has been a longstanding 911 attribute; the sporting stance is emphasised by the lower roof line and a wider front track increases on-road presence further still while raising the renowned chassis dynamics.
The rear-mounted, flat six cylinder engine is an equally symbolic component of the 911 identity; and behind the rear axle of the new car lies an uprated range of powerful, efficient and evocative 'boxer' engines. The Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a new 3.4-litre engine developing 350 hp, and the Carrera S features a 400 hp version of the familiar 3.8-litre. These new engines offer performance improvements for both models. The 3.4-litre Carrera with PDK accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.6 sec, 0.1 sec quicker than the prior model. Pressing the Sport Plus button on the optional Sport Chrono Pack cuts that to 4.4 sec. The 3.8-litre Carrera S with PDK can accelerate from 0- 62 mph in 4.3 sec (Sport Plus 4.1 sec), 0.2sec quicker than its predecessor.

The Nature Of Stress
By Williams Tehoy
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6472958
What is the nature of stress? It can be positive or it can be negative, being part of daily life for all people, but it can also be a burden that is exhausting and filled with anxiety. Regardless of where it comes from, good or bad, stress can influence both the person experiencing it and the environment around them. This stress overview aims to take the mystery out of stress, sharing important information with you that can help you control stress. It is all a matter of learning and coping with stress.
What are the causes of stress?
Stress can come from both internal and external factors, including the environment around you, whether it is your job, a relationship, challenges, life situations, your home, varied difficulties or even expectations that you might have of yourself. However, modern life is riddled with heavy pressures to achieve, even look our best, which means that it is no big surprise that we view stress in a very bad light, even if biologically stress may be less negative than we realize. As a result, stress usually is a creation of the human mind in regards to things that may not yet have happened or may never happen, yet our brains anticipate based on mere assumptions.
Internal stresses can influence how we respond to our lives, the challenges that face us and if our health may be harmed as a result of that stress. Yes, these types of stresses are the most detrimental because they affect the most important parts of our lives, our sleep and rest time, not to mention our nutritional needs. Somehow our bodies and minds have evolved to adapt to the stresses of the environment around us, as well as the pressures that we and others put on ourselves. We are amongst the most evolved on the planet. Sometimes even people who cope well with stress need assistance in getting their stresses under control again.
Are there any sections of our body that are bothered the most by stress? Your reproductive system, pancreas, intestines, stomach, heart, muscles, joints, nerves and brain can suffer or sustain damage with too much stress. We do have neo-cortex which has the challenge, yet the ability and talent to adapt accordingly to our changing environments, no matter how dangerous or risky they might be. Unfortunately, the mind and body can only take so much, making stress the most risky and dangerous threats to human survival, far out doing even wars, though its final effects may take years to be realized.
Coping with stress strategies
If stress is managing your mind and body, playing havoc and making you feel ill, now is the time that you must control stress, getting assistance to reduce stress and anxiety before your mind and body finally break down permanently. As such, this stress overview can help you deal with your stress because stress is something that human beings are better adept at dealing with, making stress and the worries we subject ourselves to more psychological and thus we do not have to succumb to the illnesses or nutritional impacts if we learn proper coping mechanisms.

The Power of Belief To Transform Your Experience
By David Neagle
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6483484
I just had a great conversation with a friend who was telling me about some business associates who have had a complete turn around on their dream.
A few months ago, they were enthusiastic and on fire for their future. Unfortunately, they didn't keep their mental doors locked... and something negative slipped in, and they dropped the pursuit of their dream.
All failure begins this way.
People may have high hopes, but when their perceived circumstances suggest a lesser outcome is more likely (perhaps via an unexpected obstacle), this perceived discrepancy becomes the initial seed of failure.
Being unaware of how this process destroys the dreams of countless people, they fall victim to its seduction.
Take a look at what happens and how this process works:
1. We all have two parts in our thinking: One is our dream or goal, and the second is the belief that it might not ever happen. This is where most people start out.
2. Next, something begins to spark or inspire a person to take action on their dream. (Yet, not having a full understanding of the Laws of Success, they are actually moving in the direction of their dream with a great deal of ignorance. Ignorance is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as a person stays open to what he/she must learn along the way. The problem is many individuals are not open to growth and change.)
3. Their subconscious manifests an obstacle to keep them from experiencing anything "new". This new challenge is perceived as a point of failure.
It is at this point in a person's journey where moving forward becomes too painful or fearful, and a person usually chooses to stay "safe". The truth, however, is that this is also the point where moving forward would allow a person to see the bigger win they are hoping for!
You see, YOUR beliefs control your perception of everything in your world, which in turn creates your reality. If you want to change your reality, you must use new information to change your beliefs AND your perception. Until you see things differently, you will continue to makes choices that keep you where you are. And eventually, you will give up on your dreams.
In other words, your experiences reflect your belief system. This means that if there is anything in your life you don't want to experience all you need to do to change "it" is to change the belief that caused "it" in the first place!
In theory, it's really simple... but in practice, many people find it difficult because they really don't understand all beliefs are nothing but illusions anyway. But these illusions are so strong people think that they are real when actually they are not.
The power of belief is astounding. I encourage you to study its mysteries for yourself and see what changes you truly do have the power to make.

How to Create Stability in Our Lives
By Aldo Marconi
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6460352
How do we create the environment of stability? Especially if our lives have been wracked by upheaval and chaos? Everyone has their challenges, the waves of the sea are always churning and some storms are more destructive than others. Some waves are just hitting the shores with negligible damage and are enjoyable to watch and listen to on the beach, while others can be an outright disaster when they build up to the level of a tsunami and obliterate everything you have worked for in the blink of an eye.
Clearly, the objects, people, that are most firmly anchored, have the best chance of surviving and thriving despite the crashing sea.
We have to learn how to drop anchor. We have to create stability by being stable, by repeating certain habits till they become part of our daily routine and anchor us in a meaningful (for us) and positive way.
Most people would agree that smoking is definitely a habit, but not much of a positive one, nor an effective anchor because it continues to damage the ship (your body) while a true anchor protects the ship from being destroyed by the wild nature of the ocean.
And no offense to those who are already ensconced in this habit, because I still have plenty of my own damaging routines which have been built up over the years, but I am adamant to do my best to replace them with good anchors that preserve the ship for the journey.
Find an anchor, find one activity which is healthy for your body, mind and spirit and keep at it. Try to keep at it even when you are faced with challenges, perhaps you will not be as tranquil in your mind, but this activity will help to anchor you and get you through the waves when they rise up to the level of a storm as we know will happen one time or another in life.
Without firm boundaries and anchors, nothing really has any form. Without walls, there can be no home and without walls, there can be no pool, so building boundaries, is a good thing, whether it be for a vineyard or for a house, that is the way to establish your place and your domain in your world.
So, perhaps you already have all of your anchors lined up. And that is great. This idea though has been somewhat new to me, maybe not in terms of understanding it conceptually, but from experiencing it in practice
Over the last year now, I have been building anchors so to speak, despite my inbred nature of depression, whether it be genetic or learned, it has been my nature for many years but I have been pushing against that wave through volunteering, going to school, studying for a new career and now swimming. Those are all good anchors that have been good for the ship to stay a course of helping others and myself.
I do not think it matters whichever one a person might choose, whatever type of anchor it is, as long as it is one that you enjoy and that you do your best to commit to. Maybe it is music, maybe art, maybe a specific field (there is that field again, remember the vineyard) that you work in, maybe it is volunteering, mentoring, working out, you pick it, but at least get one that can serve as a strong anchor.
We do see this concept in nature, our solar system revolving around the pull of the sun, our own bodies, held close to the earth by gravity, our personal lives, which have probably revolved around the relationships with less than ten people, whether they have been great relationships and whether they have been stormy, the point is to start today to enhance the good anchors in our lives. And if we do not have any, pick at least one to start with and build from there.
I see an incremental improvement in most areas of my life because I have dropped some powerful anchors to protect the ship. There is no perfection, just trying to keep making progress and having these anchors is definitely contributing to staying a productive course.
The ocean is always there and the waves keep coming and there is really no escaping from storms now and then, but at least we can do our best to preserve ourselves for the journey, avoid shipwrecks so we are free to enjoy the ocean and sail another day.

The Easiest Stock Investment Strategy - Invest in Dividend Paying Companies
By Rikhi Raj Sachdev
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6502539
The best stock investment strategies are the ones that have been proven over a period of time, the longer the better. Few investment strategies have withstood the test of time. Great investors throughout history have used different approaches to investing according to their temperament and goals. The goal of every investor is to make money and compound their way to financial freedom while protecting their capital, whether the investor has a long term or short term view.
The different approaches are Value investing, Growth Investing and Income Investing and or Dividend Reinvesting. Each of these approaches can be used by the long term or short term investor, whether he is a day trader, momentum trader, contrarian investor, turnaround situations, buy and hold investor. These approaches can be used singly or jointly. Remember, every investor wants value from his investment. Everybody wants a bargain. Bargains can be achieved by analyzing the fundamentals of the company or by technical analysis.
Why is investing in dividend paying companies is the strategy to invest in the stock market when compared to other strategies? It is because once you have completed your analysis and you have decided to invest in the company, all you have to do is monitor the fundamental of the company including the payment of dividends.
Analysis of dividend income investing, value investing or growth investing is basically the same. All styles take effort and time to complete. However, keeping of income dividend is the easiest as you do not have to monitor the share price movement on an daily basis. With income investing you only need to monitor the fundamentals and dividends on a monthly, quarterly, semi annually or yearly basis. This gives you time to enjoy life.
All of the strategies study the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement to calculate the ratios such asset growth, rate of liability reduction, sales growth, earnings per share growth, and return on equity. Once a suitable company is found, then the investor studies the strength of the management. Finally, the investor calculates the intrinsic value. Intrinsic value is the value of a company based on an underlying perception calculated from different ratios of the business. If the market price is lower than the market price, then the investor has found a bargain.
The difference of each strategy is minimal that is seems they are the same. However, it is important to realize that each strategy seeks a different end result. Dividend income investing primarily seeks income first, value second and growth third. Value investing seeks value first, income second and growth third. Growth investing seeks growth first, value second and income from dividend is not important for growth investors. In reality all are seeking value hoping to profit from their investment strategy.
For each investor the value is different. The best strategy is dividend income investing because while waiting to get capital gains from growth you can still earn passive income along the way. Better still you can reinvest divined income to compound your net worth without having to sell the investment. You can hold the investment forever or sell when you think the full value as been achieved. With growth investing to only way to achieve income is to sell the investment. Why would you want to sell an investment that has grown in value? Therefore, income investing is always better. Remember, you must find value in every investment, you cannot pay too much for an investment otherwise you will never get value. As Warren Buffet says "price is what you pay, value is what you get". What can be a better value than getting immediate passive income from dividend income investing?
So, are you looking to be an active stock investor, yet do not want to monitor your investments the whole day. Do you want to invest solely for growth or do you want income which will lead you to financial freedom through compounding your income.
All of these stock investment strategies can be used to achieve success. Do you want to choose the easy or the hard way? I am quite for the easy method will be your choice and that choice is Income Investing. In the long term income investing and reinvesting the dividends will help you achieve financial freedom. Remember to choose the strategy which is suitable to your temperament. Also, remember, the easier system will always be the better choice. Learn and become the master of income investing through dividends paying companies. Remember, the aim of investing is financial freedom.

Tools to Create Change
By Dee Britton
Are you living the life that you truly desire? Is everything in your life going just the way you have always dreamed? Relationships? Wealth? Health? Career? Family? If not, then what are you doing about making the change and creating that awesome life that you were meant to live?
Creating Everlasting Change
In order to create real everlasting change in any area of your life you must be equipped with the right tools. One of the biggest problems in society today is that so many people say that they want to change and do nothing about it (except moan about their current situation). Or on the other hand they spend much time and effort gathering the tools required to change, yet never doing anything with them.
Renovating your life is just like renovating your house and it always needs constant up keep. If you are renovating your house you need to know what you want done. What room in the house needs an update, what trades you require, what equipment and tools you need and you need to know how you want the finished product to look. You can either decide to outsource the work or do it yourself. Creating a better life is just the same but many people do not invest in themselves like they invest in their homes.
Preparing Your Own Personal Tool Belt
If you have decided to do the renovating yourself it is like walking into Bunnings (a large hardware store) with an empty tool belt on. You walk in the door and you are overwhelmed. You go up and down all the different aisles and there are thousands of different tools that you could fill your tool belt with but you have only got so much room or so much capacity. You know that only the best tools, the most precise tools will ensure a fantastic renovation.
As you walk down the aisles at Bunnings and you think to yourself:
'Shit, where do I start?
'Which aisle do I go down?'
'What do I need to get this job done?'
You've got this big list of problems that you need to overcome and an even bigger list of the extra stuff that you want out of life. You need a store attendant in overalls or in a Bunnings apron (an expert in the field) to really guide you and show you how to get what you need and guide you to the specific tools that you need, so that you can just leave with all the right tools to get the job done right.
No two renovations are ever the same so the tools must be selected specifically for you.
How Much Do You Want The Change?
In order for the renovation to go ahead you must really want it to happen. You must be so sick and tired of just existing and you understand that there is so much potential, and the investment is worth it. You are aware that there will be a bit of upheaval going on and maybe some unexpected obstacles as the changes take place. But you understand that the finished product will be so much better than the current one.
The Tools Do Not Work All By Themselves
There is no use going out and getting the tools or employing the trades if you are not ready or really sure about what you want. How many renovations do you see half finished? Or do you know of people who have decided to make the change, have gone out and purchased the tools, only to have them sit in the shed collecting dust.
There are many resources available that will equip you with a full belt of tools so that you can feel fully prepared for the change. So, NOW is the time to really think about what type of renovations really need to be happening in your life. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, but NOW! Go out and get the necessary tools or trade experts and stop just thinking about it. Life is too short to live in a miserable old shack.
To health, happiness & living the life of YOUR dreams.

Questions for Self-Improvement
By A McIntyre
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6496588
You need to constantly question yourself if you want to improve. Questions guide your inner dialogue. They act as a guide for you to create inner and outer wealth living a life with emotional and financial freedom.
When we were still toddlers, we learn by asking questions. Sadly, when we became adults, some of us lost out ability to ask. Some deem asking as an activity only for childish individuals. Others simply neglect it because they are already satisfied with their current state. Ideally, we must never lose this ability. As long as we live, we need to ask questions. Some of these questions might have satisfying answers in the future; some might have not. BUT at least, you didn't maintain an idle mind.
We have come up with 3 questions for self-improvement. If you haven't asked yourself these questions yet, then start asking them now.
1.) Do I enjoy the things that I do?
You have to reflect on your current state. You have to make sure that you are enjoying the things that you have right now - work, relationships, and responsibilities. If there is one area in your life that seems boring, painful or monotonous to you, focus on that part. Reflect on the reason why you don't enjoy doing the things in that certain area. Strive to get out of these areas as soon as possible unless you want to live a miserable life.
2.) What is my real passion in life?
You enjoy doing what you do if it is your passion. For example, work seems so easy if you love the responsibilities that are included in it. When you enjoy what you do, you don't call it work anymore; you call it passion. People who choose not to pursue their passion live a life of misery most of the time.
3.) Do I always plan for my future?
It is not a sin to live in the present but it is a sin not to look forward to the future. Always think 5 to 10 years ahead. Think of things that you would like to achieve if you are allowed to live even for another decade. Create a list of what you would like to do and fulfill them one by one.
You can't find inspiration if you are just contented with your current state. You need to stand up and push yourself to your limit. The power of questions is inexhaustible. Famous success coach Anthony Robbins once said "quality questions create a quality life." You must put these questions in front of you in order to drive you to your goals, be rooted in your capabilities, and change your overall perception of yourself.

5 Easy Ways To Increase Mental Focus and Concentration
By Jessica Blackey
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6498823
Mental focus is important for everyone, from the child getting ready to go back to school to the senior adult desiring to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Here are five easy ways to increase mental focus, end depression, sharpen memory, and delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Now I can't make any guarantees that these tips will for sure help your memory, but according to research, they should help. Below I came up with 5 ways that you can sharpen and increase your mental focus.
5 Ways To Increase Your Mental Focus
1. Eat a good breakfast. A healthy diet is one way to enhance mental focus, and breakfast is the best place to start. Twentieth-century American nutritionist and writer Adelle Davis once said, "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper." That recommendation holds true today. Skipping breakfast can affect mental acuity, emotional well-being, and energy levels for the rest of the day. In fact, one British study found that people who do not eat breakfast perform poorly on memory tests and have higher levels of physical and mental fatigue later in the day.
2. Drink more caffeine. Not only does coffee taste good and can get someone going in the morning, but it also has health benefits. According to research reported by WebMD, coffee drinkers are less likely to have a number of different health problems, including Alzheimer's related dementia. A 2009 Scandinavian study followed 1,400 coffee drinkers for 20 years. Those who drank between 3 and 5 cups of coffee daily were 65 percent less likely to develop dementia. It appears that coffee wakes up the senses and keeps the brain sharp.
3. Keep the body hydrated. According to a "European Journal of Clinical Nutrition" report, mild dehydration can cause cognitive impairment and poor mental performance. The study looked at aging seniors and younger adults. To enhance mental focus, people should drink plenty of fluids, especially water, throughout the day. Those who drink coffee to sharpen mental acuity should drink extra fluids to counter caffeine's diuretic effects.
4. Listen to inspiring music. Music improves energy levels and engages the senses. Most people know from experience that uplifting music sharpens concentration and encourages creativity. The power of music to enhance mental focus is well-documented. Listening to music and taking note of the various sounds, images, emotions, and even smells it evokes, is a great way to exercise the brain.
5. Have a good laugh. Nutrition, exercise, and leisure activities can have lasting effects on physical, emotional, and mental health. Research shows that investing in laughter can pay good dividends, too. Everyone knows the adage, "Laughter is good medicine," and studies reveal that laughter has a profound effect on a person's overall health. In addition to the physical and psychological benefits, laughter can sharpen a person's mental focus. It moves the attention away from stress, anger, guilt, and other negative emotions that can cloud a person's concentration.
Breakfast, caffeine, water, music, and laughter are just five ways a person can increase mental focus. There are many other ways to enhance mental clarity, improve memory, and lift depression. But these five suggestions are easy methods that anyone can incorporate into their daily lives. Simple and scientifically-proven, they are great ways to increase energy levels and keep mental focus clear and sharp. Hopefully you can incorporate some of these simple techniques into your own life so that you can get more accomplished.

Anxiety: A Tool for Success - Learn How To Turn Anxiety To Your Advantage!
By Isabelle Hamptonstone
Each day our thoughts present us with an opportunity to be anxious.
Problem:
Often we feel anxiety and worry about a particular part of ourselves and/or our sport or business. Often we feel powerless to control this anxiety. In this article, we learn how to not only take back the power, but also to use the anxiety to our own advantage. From here we can start to make a huge difference to our day to day lives and to use anxiety to our advantage.
The key here is what goes on in the mind, and is a challenge many of the sports professionals and business executives I work with have come up against.
Education:
The answer to almost every mental challenge faced by us all is hidden in the subconscious mind. This is the part of the mind that is very powerful, and is far less easy to communicate directly with than the conscious mind. With training, this becomes easier.
My Tip:
I advise you to be aware that anxiety is a poke from the unconscious mind that it is time to focus on what you DO want.
When we take a look at what is happening when we are anxious, we find that we are focusing on what we DON'T want with our thoughts.
So if an athlete is anxious about his performance - guess what their subconscious mind is going to offer up? - Yep you've guessed it - examples of poor performance!
Learning
Here's the learning folks - USE ANXIETY AS A TOOL. Becoming anxious tells you categorically to change your focus to the positive.
If you have a competition or important event coming up and you feel uneasy, gently refocus on a positive outcome. Do this each and every single time an anxious thought comes up for you. It will take repetition. Every new movement does. This will be you training your "memory muscle".
It's the same in life and work as in sport. Daily I check in with my own thoughts. Often the first sign I have that my thoughts are not optimum is when I realize I feel uncomfortable or uneasy. As soon as I realize that's happening I know I have allowed my mind to wander to thoughts that bring me no success.
Enjoy thinking yourself into being positive, after all you train your body each day and you are an amazing individual - why not use mental training as a tool to give you your edge to win?
Train yourself to be your best! Izzy

How To Stop Procrastinating: Finding The Payoff
By Carmen Gilfillan
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6500369
Mastering procrastination is about undertaking with determination, motivation and excellence those tasks for which there is no obvious psychological reward. This article looks at how to stop procrastinating by finding the payoff in any task you undertake.
Examples of activities where there may seem to be no clear or immediate payoff may include:
Working on a very small activity which is part of a larger task. If you're building a house for example painting the beams of the house is a small activity which may seem quite unrewarding but which is an important part of the project
Undertaking a small task in of itself that just needs to be done: writing that letter, making that phone call, sending that email. The effect of carrying out these 'little', seemingly unimportant tasks may be significant even though the payoff, once the task has been done on time, may seem small. The effect, however, of not carrying out these small tasks can be enormous.
Often, when we are proactive there may seem little reward for what we do: the world does not seem to change that much once the task or activity is complete; we may not always feel a huge sense of relief once the task is done; there may be no fanfares at the end of the task.
However, when we think through the consequences of not writing that letter, making that call or sending that email we realise just how important these 'small' tasks are.
Strategies The following are strategies that show you how to stop procrastinating and raise the importance in your mind of the task(s) you're doing:
1. Set a time limit that turns the activity into a race against time exercise. This raises your motivation levels, adds a reward as well as adding an interesting element to carrying out the task. You also over time improve your ability to work to deadlines.
2. Follow the task up with something you enjoy or even love doing in order that your mind is not focused solely on the activity.
3. If you are engaged in an undertaking you do not enjoy give yourself a reward for completing it. One reward may be to take the rest of the day off. In this case you simply do not schedule anything in for the rest of the day and allow yourself to do whatever you want to do.
4. Think through the consequences of not carrying out the task and use this as a reverse incentive to push on with it. Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) specialists say our motivation is either towards something pleasurable or away from pain. This is an example of when you are avoiding the pain of not doing something you know you should.
5. For larger tasks map out exactly what you need to do. If you are building a house create a plan of action you can refer to that goes alongside your architectural plans. This gives you a psychological framework and lets you see where in your plan your beams painting activity comes. It also gives you a sense of progress because you know where you are in your plan at any one time.
6. If there is an activity you really cannot face enlist the help of those around you (your support network) to either assist or motivate you.
7. Start each day with one main activity you do not enjoy. Do it before you tackle anything else. Set your time limit. Complete the task, give yourself a reward for doing so, then continue your day as normal. The payoff is either the reward or the satisfaction you feel that a job has been done well, quickly and is out of the way.
Examples of activities where there may seem to be no clear or immediate payoff may include:

The payoff is either the reward or the satisfaction you feel that a job has been done well, quickly and is out of the way.

Keep "Doing": Empowerment to Maintain Certain Societal Virtues
By Jennifer N Daniels
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6498645
There is always something to fight for in our society, whether social, political, or environmental. Those of us that remain in the fight for a better society sometimes become weary. ("...let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart" Galatians 6:9 (RSV)). Sometimes it also seems that we are the only ones in the battle for good. On the contrary, there is a theory that may help; stemming from more obvious societal values, we glean hope!
In efforts to "reconcile our social world", John Rawls, political philosopher at Harvard University has reminded us of some necessary [political] virtues that can provide us initial encouragement.
We know that our fragmented society has always needed cooperation. And Rawls asserts that "fairness and tolerance and a willingness to meet others halfway" are the things that lend us to greater cooperation. What we are now empowered to do, in every corner of our lives, is actively pursue cooperation. And here is the reason to maintain an active pursuit: there are residual benefits that foot soldiers still in the fight may not see for ourselves and those surrounding us.
I am sure we can all think of other societal concepts that stress these precepts. What would our world look like if we all aspired to do these very things in our daily life? What type of society would we have if no one had this frame of mind?
Light at the Middle
If "a sufficient number" of us could find ourselves in a loving position like this, Rawls assures this 'hypothetical society' that "even if numerous citizens lapse on occasion," and become weary in well-doing, we can still maintain a cooperative healthy society and much more as it relates to a "realistic utopia". And this is because we pushed the persistence in the first place. Therefore, if we begin to push ourselves more to maintain purity, we can then take concessions for the times we are weak ourselves.
If you can picture each of us practicing these values -fairness, tolerance, and willingness to meet half-way -- we can significantly shape our societies foundation, one pillar at a time. We each become the basis and basic structure of our society, the face of modern times. Moreover, as we build the society up to the utopia that we have defined and hoped for in the back of our minds, we simultaneously engender a support system for ourselves when we are weak.
Always a Current
Now is the time, if ever before, to shape our nation and society as a whole, by principles that are essential to our foundation. We can sing "Kumbaya" for we have other principalities fighting for influence; but if we can finally come to a point in which many of our sectors stop discussing unity and begin to act on it, we will renew our strength. (There are many divisions in society that we could discuss, but I am sure you can think of some groups of your own.) Moreover, with faith in our hands, we will directly and indirectly hasten closer toward a "realistic utopia".
Although there is always a current pushing against our attempts at cooperation, now is the time. Now is the time for a movement, as the political tides of the United States are applying more pressure on the truth, while pushing its very essence out of consideration. Now is the time as we find increasing numbers of people turning to religion and relinquishing spirituality. Now is the time as we soldiers begin to lose heart while losing contact with others in the fight for what is 'well'. THIS is an important time! Do not faint! Understand your mutual relationship between yourself and your community and be empowered to value your action!

How To Say NO In 2 Simple Ways
By Ankitaa Gohain Dalmia
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6507777
Most people don't like confrontations. Saying "NO" can lead to such confrontations sometimes, so here are 2 simple ways on how to say "No" without getting your relationships massacred.
Say No, Cite Your Reason
Think of all the reasons why you WANT to say no to the other person.
Maybe you don't want to go to the mall and chase your friend from one store to another. Maybe you don't want to spend overtime at work doing your boss' work for her. So instead of that, what do you want to do?
Think like this - instead of going to the mall, you'd rather be at home finishing up your laundry or some other long overdue house work. And instead of working overtime (where most likely you're not going to be paid extra), you want to spend some long overdue quality time with your family.
And cite that reason for saying no.
Never lie. What's the point in risking any relationship with lies, huh? So simply say no, state the reason why, and do what you intend to do.
Say No, Stand Your Ground
So what if you don't have any laundry or any other long overdue housework left to do, but still you don't want to go to the mall with your BFF?
For many people, a day at the mall can be relaxing. But it can be quite harrowing to others. If you do like going to the mall, but not particularly with your friend on that particular day/time, I'd still suggest you go for it. Spend some time with your friend. Maybe it's not going to be such a frantic experience as you expect it to be.
However, if you simply don't like going to the mall (or doing something what the other person has suggested/requested), you simply have to STAND YOUR GROUND!
Just say no. If you have to explain how doing something you don't want to do messes up your mood, then do explain. But stand your ground. Don't be a pushover.
If the other person is stubborn, just maintain your calm and stand your ground. Try to make the other person see reason. If that fails, try to suggest an alternative. Maybe you can go to the mall on a weekday, instead of a weekend, when there's less crowd. Bottom-line is stand your ground.

When to Reasonably Worry?
By Steve Wickham
There is a common cost to love. For our sons and daughters, our mothers and fathers, and our endeared friends there is a burden; a reasonable worry. It is a fallacy, and a biblical false teaching, to reject this form of worry. A cost of love is the cost of life.
We must believe that to be appropriately concerned for our loved ones is God's will.
Occasionally, this will mean our thinking will be preoccupied, our feelings estranged to sense, and our actions invoking courage and grappling with, and resisting, fear.
REASONABLE WORRY CLARIFIED
The sort of worry that Jesus referred to when preaching the Sermon on the Mount - that quoted above - is perhaps a more general portion of worry related to our health, what we'll eat, how long we'll live, and what we'll wear. There are many things we are tempted to worry about that have little bearing on life or love.
Reasonable worry ought to be confined to life and love.
To worry about those things that are within our control, instead of just doing them, seems to be a waste of emotional energy.
Interestingly, those things that are out of our control-things that are usually related to either life or love-are actually valid things to be concerned about. But we convert these worries into prayers. We convert our concern into faith, which is always expressed in action.
BEING 'COMFORTABLY' WORRIED
We can expect that a level of actionable worry - the concern of familial advocacy - is pleasing to God. We have the capacity for it. We can deal with a certain amount of stress.
The Lord has given us charge over these matters. To be ambivalent about familial issues, pretending to or refusing to be concerned sufficiently enough, would be an abomination. Perhaps there are too many parents, adult children, or close friends that brush off concern because it's not 'cool', or they fear their concerns might be ridiculed. But a genuine concern about loved ones is just an honest expression of love.
We can feel vindicated, so far as our obedience to God's will is concerned, when we do something about our concerns or otherwise leave them alone if we can't.
'CONCERN' EXPLORED
Concern is like monitoring a car's fuel or temperature gauge. Monitoring, of itself, needn't necessitate worry; we are just keeping an eye on things. When indications cause an elevated level of concern, then we act if we can. There is always something we can do, even if it's just to express our concern in love.
Reasonable worry is an actionable level of concern; the motivation of love, inspired by the courage to act. Worry beyond the ability to act is pointless and failing to be concerned enough when it matters is negligence. Reasonable worry is the middle ground concern of wisdom.

Change: Friend or Enemy?
By Kac Young
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6504166
In life, something is always happening isn't it? Change, chosen or thrust upon us, is our constant companion - whether we like it or not.
When we are faced with making changes in our life - whether they are physical, spiritual or mental - it helps to ask ourselves the Twelve Top Questions For Change in order to sort out our thinking, make the most of the change impulse and prevent regrets like "What was I thinking?" Like tattoos, some changes are very permanent. We are well advised to consider the outcome before making a drastic move. Ask yourself:
Why am I really making this change?
Is my desire to make a change rooted in positive motives?
What does the new outcome, or result, look like to me?
How will it affect, or alter, my life as it is now?
How will it affect those closest to me?
How committed am I to the change?
How long will it take to make the change?
What are the biggest obstacles to making this change?
Who will support me the most in the process of change?
How much will this change cost? Really can I support it financially?
How can protect myself against naysayers and temptations that may sidetrack me?
When am I willing to begin?
If we ask ourselves those questions, and are honest about the answers, we will most likely be successful at making the change. If we discover, by asking the questions, that we have questionable responses, we might want to ask for outside advice, rethink the issues, or put the change "on hold" for a month while we get to the root of the issue.
If you are confident in your motives, by all means, step out and make the change. Invigorate your life with the excitement of all that is new. Fresh beginnings, enhanced experience, challenges, goal raising, health improvement - all of these are great incentives to keep you motivated while making a life-change. Go for it. Refresh your mind, body and soul with inspiration, courage and daring. Life will become exhilarating. Pass along your enthusiasm and encourage others to make change a friend and not a foe.
If you hit a bump, don't worry. Go back to the Twelve Top Questions For Change, refresh your rationale and renew your determination to make the change. By repeating this exercise often it will help you through the challenging moments and keep you motivated and moving forward.

Cash Investing 101
By Scott S Oberholser
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6507313
So you have managed your money wisely and have some cash reserves at your disposable. Your desire is to "grow" these reserves by investing. I commend you for both! Yet, you have never invested your money in the past and are not sure where and how to get started. Well, relax and take a deep breath, because it is not that difficult to quickly determine the "where" to start. 401k's and IRA's are perfect investment accounts that provide the beginning investor a simple, low risk opportunity to start investing and take advantage of a great cash management technique. And one of the places you can start immediately, may be available to you at the place you go everyday, your workplace.
A 401k is a company/employer sponsored retirement plan that will allow you to deduct a portion of your paycheck each month and put it towards your retirement. This money earns interest and is tax free. That is one of the ways that a 401k allows you to grow your money. Here is the other: many companies will match or contribute a portion of the amount you put in your 401k. This is free money that you will also be earning interest on. How are you able to earn interest on this money? Companies like the one you work for, that participate in 401k programs outsource the maintenance of your account to mutual fund companies, financial services corporations, and banks. These companies will in turn invest your money in stocks, bonds, and other money market instruments.
Once established, a 401k is yours to keep until you retire at age 65. If you leave the company where you set up the 401k, you have a couple of options. One, you can withdraw the money and close the account which would involve early withdrawal and tax penalties. Or two, you could transfer, or "rollover", the account to an IRA.
An IRA is an individual retirement account that you can set up separate from the company you work for. It can be started on it's own, separate or concurrent with a company sponsored 401k. There are two types of IRA's you can invest in-Traditional or Roth. What is the difference? A traditional IRA allows you to contribute pre-tax income. This means any money you contribute will not count as income on your tax return. You will have to pay taxes on the money you withdraw once retirement rolls around. A Roth IRA works in a directly opposite manner. Money you contribute to this plan will count as income on your tax return but can be withdrawn and received tax-free when you retire. To set up an IRA you simply need to contact a financial adviser in the field of investments. He or she can help you set up either a Traditional IRA or Roth IRA and further explain which plan would be right for you.
Congratulations! If you start a 401k or IRA you have employed one of the best cash management techniques available to you. Pat your self on the back for not only saving enough money to invest but for also taking free cash advice.

Dividend Investing - Pros and Cons of Dividend Investing
By Howard Feigenbaum
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6493759
Investing for dividends is an excellent way to participate in the stock market. Dividends represent the sharing of a company's profits with those who hold stock.
There are two kinds of stock: common and preferred. Common stock pays no or low dividends; preferred stock customarily pays a dividend on a regular basis. The investment return on common stock is from a hoped-for increase in the company's share price over time. The investment return on preferred stock is a combination of current payment of dividends as well possible long-term increase in share price.
An investor may purchase individually owned shares of companies which pay dividends. Or, an investor may purchase shares of a mutual fund which has the objective of owning dividend-paying stocks. The latter is generally considered a more conservative approach since your investment risk is spread out among the larger number of companies in the portfolio.
Pros of Dividend Investing:
1. Dividends create a source of cash for re-investment. There is a continuing stream of cash created by dividends. Re-investment of the cash in the purchase of additional shares is a great way to grow your portfolio.
2. Dividends create a source of cash for monthly income needs. At some point in your life, you will need income from something other than work. Having a flow of dividend income is a wonderful way of planning for your economic freedom.
3 Dividend investing benefits from dollar-cost-averaging. Constant re-investment of dividends over time creates an average cost basis. The theory is, that through continuous purchasing of shares, the average cost will be lower than the current price.
4. Dividends offer a source of earnings in a down market. Investor frustration and fears rise during a market decline. Dividend investors can take solace from the fact that there will be profits from their portfolio during the downturns.
5. Dividends pay you profit now. For many people, receiving money right now as profit on their investment is more comforting than waiting for the share price to rise. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush," is an adage you can apply to dividend investing.
Cons of Dividend Investing:
1. Dividend income is subject to ordinary income tax. Every year investors must pay income tax on dividends.
2. Dividends are not a guaranteed payment. Dividend payments are subject to change. If the business of a company is not as profitable as it once was, the company may choose to lower or suspend dividend payments. The risk that any one company may have poor results may be lessened by diversification.
3. Dividend investors may not make as much profit on share price increases as common stock investors. Since dividends are a recognition and payment of profits, dividends are part of the company share value. With a common stock, most--if not all--of the share value comes from a rise in market price. Some investors believe that there is a greater potential return from common stocks. However, there may also be a greater market risk.
4. Dividend-paying stock prices may go down when yields rise in the market place. Companies that pay dividends compete with other investment choices. The dividend yield can be an attraction. However, when yields generally rise and investors can get higher yields elsewhere, the yield of a lower-than-market dividend may be offset by a lowering of share price to make up the difference.
As with any investment, you would do well to remain vigilant in assessing factors which affect the value of your portfolio. Take an interest in how your investments work. You will be more at ease in knowing what to expect.
